The Fedrigoni Group has signed an agreement with Papeterie Zuber Rieder, aimed at joining forces and creating the first global player in premium papers for wine & spirits. The execution of binding documentation, and the completion of the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Papeterie Zuber Rieder, remain subject to the consultation of the works council of Papeterie Zuber Rieder.

Color-Logic and Ecofoil Digital eliminate gambling with metallics

Color-Logic developed the design and Ecofoil Digital printed a deck of cards recently distributed to Ecofoil customers. The cards were produced using Ecofoil Digital substrate, by a licensed Color-Logic printer in the UK. Commenting on the unique metallic cards with Color-Logic embellishments, Color-Logic Director of Sales and Marketing Mark Geeves said: “Printing these beautiful cards using Ecofoil Digital left nothing to chance. The Color-Logic embellishments and metallic colors on the Ecofoil Digital substrate produced predictable and repeatable results on both the cards and the accompanying playing card case. Ecofoil Digital substrate is certified by major digital press manufacturers that also support Color-Logic. In addition to the playing cards, a variety of other Color-Logic files are currently being shown by Kelly Spicers, the Ecofoil Digital distributor in North America.”

Mondi provides sustainable eCommerce packaging solutions for Modivo SA

Mondi has been appointed as the exclusive packaging provider for one of Europe’s largest fashion enterprises. Following a product trial earlier this year, Mondi will support Modivo in switching from the standard rigid packaging currently used in the distribution of the e-retailer’s full collection of shoes, bags and clothes.

Sappi realigns production of its non-wet strength wet-glue label papers

Due to growing demand, packaging and speciality paper manufacturer Sappi Europe is expanding production of its successful Parade Label Pro label paper to include higher grammages. Sappi is also expanding production of the premium paper from its Gratkorn mill in Austria to include its Alfeld mill in Germany – so ensuring greater security of supply to customers.

At this year’s Fachpack in Nuremberg between 27 and 29 September, Sappi presented its latest products and solutions in the areas of flexible packaging papers, barrier papers, label papers, corrugated board papers and virgin fibre board. This year, the world’s leading manufacturer of packaging papers devoted a special focus to the barrier papers and label paper segments.

Hasselblad Award winner Dayanita Singh honoured at ceremony

2022 Hasselblad Award winner, New Delhi-born photographer and bookmaker Dayanita Singh, was honoured 14 October at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers in Gothenburg, Sweden. Considered the “Nobel Prize in photography”, this year’s prize included the sum of SEK 2,000,000, a gold medal, and a diploma. In partnership with the Hasselblad Foundation, the Hasselblad company presented Singh two digital cameras, the newly released X2D 100C, and a 907X 50C, along with an XCD 55V lens. This is the first time a Hasselblad Award winner has received Hasselblad cameras as part of the prize package.

Fedrigoni and Inspiring Girls International meet girls in Italy and abroad

The partnership between Fedrigoni, global player in the production of special papers and self-adhesive materials, and the ONG Inspiring Girls International, committed to encouraging the ambitions of girls from 11 to 15 years of age presenting successful female role models, celebrates its first anniversary, with candles being blown out on cakes throughout Europe and South America. In fact, Fedrigoni is already preparing workshops that will involve students in middle and high schools in Spain, France, Brazil and Chile, and is starting again with the meetings in Italy, following the first successful events last year in two second and third year middle school classes at a school in Milan.

Gravure – the sustainable print process

The European gravure industry met at ERA’s Annual & Packaging / Decorative Gravure Conference in Baveno, Italy from 21 to 23 September. The event was held in conjunction with the ERA General Assembly on 21 September which elected Davide Garavaglia, CEO of Bobst Italia, as new ERA President. He succeeds Manfred Janoschka who was elected by the General Assembly as Past President. The conference on 22 September was attended by some 100 delegates to discuss the current challenges for the gravure industry. The event concluded with a visit to the plant of Bobst Italia in San Giorgio Monferrato on 23 September where Bobst demonstrated modern and advanced press technology in their impressive competence centre.

Sappi accepts offer to sell three European graphic paper mills

Sappi Limited announced today that it has concluded an agreement with AURELIUS Investment Lux One S.à.r.l. (“Aurelius”) regarding the divesture of its Maastricht Mill in the Netherlands, its Stockstadt Mill in Germany and its Kirkniemi Mill in Finland (the “Transaction”). Steve Binnie, CEO of Sappi Limited commented: “We are very happy to have reached agreement with Aurelius to take ownership of the three mills. Although they no longer fit in Sappi’s portfolio, they are strong assets with good people.
